Le Palais de la Bourse
Symbole de la puissance économique et financière de
Lyon au XIXe siècle, ce palais construit par Dardel a
été inauguré en 1862. Un somptueux plafond peint par
Alexandre Hesse décore la salle centrale où se
déroulaient les transactions avant l’informatisation
des opérations de la Bourse.
C’est en sortant de
ce bâtiment que le président de la République Sadi
Carnot fut assassiné le 24 juin 1894 par l’anarchiste
italien Caserio.
Palais de la Bourse
This palace, built by Dardel as a symbol of Lyon’s
economic and financial might in the 19th century, was
inaugurated ni 1862. A sumptuous painted ceiling, the
work of Alexandre Hesse, decorates the main hall where
financial transactions took place before the era of
computerised trading.
It was here, on 14th June
1894, that the President of the Republic, Sadi Carnot,
was assassinated by the Italian anarchist Caserio as
he left the building.
