Fort Saint-Jean
Acquis par la Ville, ce vaste ensemble militaire faisait partie de la ceinture fortifiée de Lyon construite à partir de 1830. Il occupait, à l’extrémité du rempart de la Croix-Rousse, l’emplacement d’un fort plus ancien qui contrôlait le passage de la Saône depuis le XVIe siècle.
The Fort of Saint-Jean
This vast military stronghold formed part of the Lyon fortifications built as of 1830 and now belongs to the City of Lyon. It stands on the site of an older fort which was used to control traffic along the Saône from the 16th century onwards, at the far end of the Croix-Rousse ramparts.
